Time to Grow // Freestyle Log #017

The crops are growing, good weather is coming, and I think I’m slowly progressing through freestyle too. There’s a lot of stuff in this video I wasn’t 100% with, but actually I think as an edit it does pretty well. Some of the ‘better’ tricks are actually towards the end in my opinion but wanted to get some of the slower stuff in - it’s interesting seeing how racing affects my freestyle. Now we’re back into racing season and in full flow I can see there’s less slow moves in my freestyle and it’s all more fast paced as with everyone elses. Time to Grow.

This was actually a big test for me, I decided to flash the latest version of Raceflight (299) to my AstroX and see how it performed, not wanting to touch my KISS Chameleon’s in anyway. I was actually really surprised at how well it flew out of the box, but the biggest shock for me was how it actually feels to fly it. For me, I think it feels like it is more fun to fly and has more smoothness than KISS! I’ve never really liked Betaflight for freestyle, but I’m shocked at how well this flies, so will continue to fly with it and get to grips with how it feels. My KISS quads may end up gathering dust, likely to be stripped down and switch out to Revolts and BLHeli_S esc’s, but we won’t call it that early yet. :)

I am in for the full 2017 season and it’s been a blast, having watched some of them so far it’s damn good. I’ll be posting up more Racer 3 footage real soon, I just need to go through the ~300 GoPro recordings I have from practising. I wish I had been editing as I went along, but hindsight as we know is 20/20…
